The couple-at least the wife wanted everything American--in this case Southern. The husband was a Scotland Yard Detective and thought he knew everything! - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Bernadette Cinkoske -- Fun, new mystery in series : Two Many Sleuths is a fun new mystery in this series. Mark and Donna are some of my favorite sleuths. The British visitors, Scotland Yard Detective Inspector Howard Dudley and his wife Elizabeth, made a nice addition to the usual cast of characters. This well written book has clues and suspects galore. I could not put the book down. I figure out one little thing but did not come close to solving the case. - 4.0 out of 5 stars from SLA -- Clever plot! : Donna, innkeeper of the Painted Lady Inn, ends up playing hostess to a Scotland Yard detective, Howard, a friend of her husband, Mark, and Howard's wife, Elizabeth, when Mark gets called into service investigating a possible murder. Donna does not particularly care for Howard, who turns out to be a somewhat egotistical boor, and she is annoyed when Mark allows Howard to observe and participate in the investigation. Elizabeth, however, is frustrated by her husband's inability to take her suggestions about his cases seriously, and invites herself into Donna's efforts to find out the killer. The two of them surreptitiously interview the victim's friends and neighbors to try to determine a possible motive, since Margery was well liked and there is no obvious reason for someone to want to murder her. There are several plot twists, and the story has a very clever ending that I didn't suspect. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I found Donna's personality to be somewhat abrasive and the many British stereotypes were rather annoying after a bit. However, it is a good story and I would recommend this book. I received an ARC copy of this book but the opinions expressed are solely my own. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2021 )

This time she is aided by the wife of a visiting Scotland Yard detective. I love this author’s work and this book is no exception. Skilled writing, well drawn characters and a fun mystery to unravel. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a voluntary, unbiased review. Howard is a Scotland Yard detective. Just when Mark and Donna are preparing to leave for the airport to pick up the guests, Mark receives a phone call related to a probable murder. The victim is Margery Baumgarten, a member of the local gardening club. Initially, Donna asked Mark not to get involved, but when she learned the victim's name, she changed her mind.
